Honoring Irene Gray

A $25,000 Donation Expands the Perky Restoration Program Nationwide

In late December, the Perky Restoration Program received a gift that will forever change the reach of our work. Dr. Ken Gray made a $25,000 donation to the Perky Restoration Program in honor of his late wife, Irene Gray.

Irene passed away from a rare bile duct cancer, and in the years following her passing, Dr. Gray spent time learning about organizations that support people who have been affected by cancer. Ken is Courtney’s grandfather and when he learned of the Perky Restoration Program, he felt moved to contribute in a way that honored Irene’s life, compassion, and legacy.

Irene Gray was a ray of sunshine — a devoted wife, mother, and Nana. She was a nurturer, a dear friend and neighbor, and lovingly known by many as the “Butterfly Lady.”

What the Perky Restoration Program Is

The Perky Restoration Program was created to help bridge the gap between surviving breast cancer and accessing restorative care.

Through this program, we provide financial support for services such as:

  • 3D nipple tattooing

  • scar camouflage tattooing

  • eyebrow restoration pre/post chemotherapy

These are services that are often life-changing — and just as often not covered by insurance. The Restoration Program exists so cost is not the reason someone goes without this part of healing.

A National Step Forward

Because of this gift, we are honored to announce that the Perky Restoration Program is officially going national.

This means we can now offer restoration grants to breast cancer survivors and previvors across the United States, helping connect individuals with access to nipple tattooing and restorative services beyond our local community.

What began as a local effort is now becoming a national one — rooted in the same mission: making restorative care more accessible, visible, and supported in survivorship.

This expansion also means our work is just beginning.

Honoring Irene

Irene’s presence lives quietly but powerfully in our studio. Her photo, alongside Crystal’s grandmother, reminds us every day that behind every service, every scar, every tattoo, and every survivor is a story — and a family.

This gift allows Irene’s legacy to continue forward in the form of care, dignity, and restoration for people who need it most.

We carry that with us in every grant awarded.

How You Can Support the Program

With the Perky Restoration Program now serving individuals nationwide, continued fundraising is essential.

Every donation directly supports survivors and previvors by helping fund:

  • nipple restorative tattooing

  • scar camouflage

  • eyebrow restoration pre/post chemotherapy

This provides access to care that insurance often does not cover.

Whether it is $10 or $10,000, each contribution helps someone take a step toward restoration.

We are endlessly grateful to Dr. Ken Gray for this extraordinary gift, and to Irene Gray for the legacy it carries forward.

This moment marks not only growth, but responsibility — to protect this program, to expand access thoughtfully, and to continue building something survivors and previvors can trust.

Thank you for being part of it.
