She Got a Third Nipple for Her Mom. Now She's Asking Mark Wahlberg for One Thing.
Recently, a mother and daughter walked into Perky for matching tattoos. Not matching flowers. Not matching quotes. A matching nipple tattoo.
Well...sort of.
The mother, a breast cancer survivor, was at Perky to receive bilateral restorative nipple tattoos after losing her nipples during her mastectomy. Her daughter was there to support her every step of the way. She had always wanted matching tattoos with her mom, and on this day, she found the most meaningful way to make that happen.
She got a third nipple.
A Mammogram That Changed Everything
She found it because she showed up. Because she scheduled the appointment, sat in the waiting room, and did the thing so many of us put off — she got her mammogram. And it saved her life.
Our client is a breast cancer survivor who discovered her cancer on a routine mammogram. Early detection gave her options and time. Early detection gave her daughter more years with her mom.
She went on to have a mastectomy and breast reconstruction — a journey that is grueling, long, and personal. And like so many women who walk this road, she lost her nipples along the way. It's something nobody prepares you for. Nobody mentions it in the pamphlets. You survive, you reconstruct, and then you look in the mirror and something is still missing. Something small that means something enormous.
She came to Perky to get it back.
Why a Third Nipple?
Naturally, everyone asks the same question. Why a third nipple?
The answer is equal parts heartfelt and unexpected. The daughter has long admired Mark Wahlberg, who has publicly shared that he was born with a supernumerary (third) nipple. Inspired by that story, she decided that if she and her mom were finally getting matching tattoos, hers would be a third nipple—placed to mimic where Mark's is.
It's funny. It's memorable. But most importantly... It has a purpose.
This wasn't just a matching tattoo. The daughter made a $500 donation to the Perky Restoration Program so another breast cancer survivor or previvor could receive restorative tattooing.
