Keep the DIEP: CALL TO ACTION!

Our friends at CBRA have been tirelessly advocating for breast reconstruction rights and are asking for your help now more than ever. Through the efforts of CBRA and Dr. Potter, CMS is now re-evaluating DIEP flap coding changes. If you recall, their current plan is to do away with the S-codes used for tissue-based breast reconstruction, which would force surgeons to no longer be able to offer DIEP flap reconstruction through insurance. How can you help all affected by breast cancer keep access to tissue-based breast reconstruction options?

Please consider doing the following:

  • By June 1st, write an email to CMS with why you feel they should reinstate the s-codes. Include your personal battle, a loved one’s journey, your medical perspective or just your thoughts as another human-being

  • Send your email to: hcpcs@cms.hhs.gov

  • Post about it on Instagram: tag and encourage friends to also help fight to #keepthediep and #reversethechange

Need help writing your email to CMS? Use the example template CBRA has provided or take a look at the one we sent:

Our letter has been submitted, have you done yours yet? Don’t forget to help advocate for access to modern breast reconstruction options by June 1st!
